Medicare Part D plans are permitted to call you on the telephone to give you information to help you make an informed choice. Telemarketers may describe the benefits of a plan, ask you if you want pre-enrollment information, and inform you of changes in a plan.
If you do not want telemarketers to call you, you can register your phone number with the Do Not Call Registry. To register, call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236) from the number you wish to register. If you have an e-mail address, you can register online at www.donotcall.gov. Registration is free and does not expire, unless your telephone is disconnected. If you are registered with the Do Not Call Registry, then Medicare Part D telemarketers are not allowed to call you.
