-Diabetes Self Management Training is covered for all recipients who have diabetes, with a written order from your doctor.
-Blood glucose meters, blood glucose strips and lancets are covered for all recipients who have diabetes.

-Medicare will cover one test strip per day for any recipient with diabetes.
|
|

-Medicare will cover three test strips per day for recipients who require insulin injections to control their diabetes.
|
|
|
-Medicare will cover additional strips per day for recipients with diabetes if the doctor's order requires it. In order to receive the increased number of strips per day, extra paperwork is required. A written log of blood glucose readings, supporting the continued use of more frequent blood glucose strips must be provided to the pharmacy.

-Therapeutic Shoes and inserts are covered for recipients with diabetes who have certain foot problems.
-Immunizations

-Flu shots are covered annually, to help prevent respiratory infections caused by influenza virus. Medicare pays 100%, and the deductible does not apply.

-Pneumonia shots are covered, to help prevent bacterial infections caused by pnemococcal bacteria. Medicare pays 100%, and the deductible does not apply.
|
|
|
-Hepatitis B vaccines (3 shot series) are covered for recipients who are at high to medium risk of being infected with hepatitis B virus.
|
-Post-Mastectomy camisole with prosthetic breast forms.
-Impotency Device - Vacuum erection devices, such as the Erectaid device are covered for men with erectile dysfunction
-Durable Medical Equipment

-Certain items, such as canes and walkers may be covered if the equipment is deemed necessary to maintain mobility in the home. An assessment of both the home and the individual's needs are required. If the assessment reveals that mobility items are only needed for travel outside the home, then they will not be covered.

-Grab bars and elevated toilet seats are not covered. |
-Ostomy Products are covered for people with a colostomy, ileostomy, or urostomy.
-Certain prescription Medications (Note: Generally prescription medications are covered by Medicare part D. A small subset of medications are covered under part B instead.

-Transplant Medications

-Inhaled Medications to be used in a nebulizer machine are covered for chronic conditions, such as COPD.

-Certain Cancer Medications

-Enteral nutrition therapy is covered for recipients who cannot swallow or take food orally. Nutrition must be delivered through a tube directly into the gastrointestinal tract. Medicare will not pay for nutritional formulas that are taken orally (Such as Ensure or Boost)..
-Below the knee compression stockings are covered for the treatment of open venous stasis ulcers. They are not covered for the treatment of lymphedema without ulcers.
